Analogue Catalogue  is a vintage analogue recording studio hidden away in the hills just twenty minutes east of Manchester city centre.

Crafted into a Victorian manor house, this boutique recording studio has three dedicated live rooms, a flat response control room and a myriad of natural acoustic spaces.

The gear list (in particular the Trident desk and 1930s Bechstein grand piano) is inspired by London's legendary Trident Studios, the environment by the yesteryear grandeur of Château d'Hérouville.

Our enviable collection of vintage analogue gear is lovingly maintained and operated by our respected, accomplished engineers. Coupled with a luxurious, relaxed and creative environment at Analogue Catalogue we can record classic sounding records expeditiously and with ease.

Just So You Know...
Most sessions tend to start around 10am and finish around 8pm as we have found that this is the most efficient schedule for bands and engineers to work to. Longer and later days can often result in time getting wasted as musicians become tired and tend not to perform to the best of their abilities. We do not charge overtime and always structure sessions so as to achieve optimum results.

We record solely to 2" Tape which is available to hire, although you are welcome to purchase it if you wish to take the tapes with you. You are welcome to bring your own tape, but please discuss this with us first. For more information on 2" Tape recording times see Studio FAQs.

We understand only too well the costs involved in recording and releasing records and will do all we can to work something out appropriate to your budget so please contact us with your requirements for a quote. We won't bite.

"They're nice people. I like niceys."
- Bill Callahan (smog)

Pre-Production

As part of our service we are happy to discuss all aspects of recording with you prior to the session. You are welcome to visit the studio where we'll listen to you and your songs, chat, discuss sounds, talk amps, mics and recording preferences. We do not charge for this, and have found it enables you to get straight down to business once the session begins.

We try not to book sessions in back to back to allow our engineers some respite, so generally you are welcome to drop off gear, set up drums etc the evening before the session starts.

Post-Production
If mixing without various band members, managers or A&R we'll upload WAV files of mixes via Yousendit or similar for comment.

If mastering elsewhere, upon completion of mixing the engineer will write cutting notes and we will organise for DATs or 1/2" masters to be sent to the mastering house along with these notes.

Hire-In Extras
Analogue Catalogue feels rural yet is served quickly and efficiently by various Manchester hire companies including Wigwam, Concert Systems, STS Touring and Retro Sounds Hire. Any gear that you require that is not on our list we can arrange to hire in at cost.
